Chhattisgarh coal scam case: Former Congress Rajya Sabha member Vijay Darda sentenced to four years

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has given a big blow to former Congress Rajya Sabha member Vijay Darda in the case related to allocation of coal blocks in Chhattisgarh. In the case, the Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday sentenced Vijay Darda to four years imprisonment.

The court convicted him under sections 120B, 420 of the IPC and other sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. On the other hand, the other convicts have been sentenced to three years.

The court also sentenced Yavatmol Energy Pvt Ltd director Manoj Kumar Jaiswal and two officers KS Krofa and KC Samariya to three years imprisonment each.

According to the information, in the coal scam case, Delhi’s special court has imposed a four-year sentence and a fine of Rs 15 lakh each to former Rajya Sabha member Vijay Darda, Devender Darda, Manoj Kumar Jaiswal, director of Yavatmal Energy Pvt Ltd.

Whereas, former coal secretary HC Gupta, two senior public servants KS Krofa and KC Samariya were sentenced to three years in jail and fined Rs 10,000 each.
