Veteran actor Dilip Kumar has been discharged from the hospital after he underwent a minor procedure on Wednesday to remove fluid from his lungs. An update on his official Twitter account confirmed that the veteran actor will be returning home today.
The 98-year-old actor was admitted to a non-COVID-19 facility on Sunday after he complained of breathlessness. He was was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion – a build-up of excess fluid between the layers of the pleura outside the lungs. Dilip Kumar was initially to be discharged on Thursday but his family friend Faisal Farooqui had updated that the vetetran actor has decided to rest for a day at the hospital. “He is stable and he is resting at the hospital. There was an option to be discharged today but the family and the doctors decided that we should let him rest one more day in the hospital,” he said.
Previously, Saira Banu had addressed death rumours about Dilip Kumar and shared on the veteran actor’s official Twitter handle, “Don’t believe in WhatsApp forwards. Saab is stable. Thank you for your heart-felt duas and prayers. As per doctors, he should be home in 2-3 days. Insh’Allah.”
Madhur Bhandarkar had visited Dilip Kumar in the hospital this week. Speaking about his visit, the filmmaker had told ETimes, “I met Sairaji and she was very gracious to give me time. I was happy when I learned there that he was stable. I felt I must go and so I did. Sairaji asked that we should pray for her husband’s recovery.”
